Okay, so let’s be real. Filing an FIR in Pakistan used to be a total nightmare. You’d go to the thana, wait forever, and still not be sure if they’ll even write it down. I’ve been there. But guess what? Now you can actually do it online. Yup, from your phone or laptop. No waiting, no “come tomorrow.”
Here’s how it works.
Step 1: Go to the Right Website
Each province has its own online system. Pretty simple.
- Punjab Police: https://fir.punjabpolice.gov.pk/login
- Sindh Police: https://igpcms.sindhpolice.gov.pk/
- Islamabad Police: https://islamabadpolice.gov.pk/free_fir.php
- KP Police: https://pas.kppolice.gov.pk/public/OnlineFIR
- For online scams or blackmail: nr3c.gov.pk (that’s FIA’s cybercrime wing)
So, for example, if your wallet got stolen in Lahore, you’ll go to the Punjab one. If someone made a fake Instagram profile of you — that’s an FIA job.
Step 2: Fill Out the Form
Now, this part’s not scary. You just put your name, CNIC, phone number, and what happened. Keep it short and to the point.
You don’t need to sound like a lawyer. Just write it like you’d tell a friend — “my phone got snatched near XYZ road” or “someone scammed me online.”
Oh, and you can attach photos, screenshots, or anything that helps.
Step 3: Save That Complaint Number
Once you hit submit, you’ll get a complaint number. That’s basically your case ID. Take a screenshot or write it down.
They might call you to confirm details, or they might just start processing it. Depends on the case.
If you don’t hear back in a few days and it’s serious, give your local police station a quick call.
Step 4: What Happens Next
So here’s what they do. The police check your complaint and decide if it counts as a real FIR — like a proper crime — or just a general complaint.
If it’s something serious (like theft, fraud, harassment, etc.), they’ll register it as an FIR. Otherwise, they might reach out to you for more details first.
Makes sense, right?
Step 5: For Cyber Crimes
Now, this one’s important. If it’s something like blackmail on social media, fake profiles, leaked pictures, or someone scamming you online — skip the normal police. Go straight to the FIA Cyber Wing.
Their site is nr3c.gov.pk and their helpline is 1991. They’re actually quite responsive now.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
- Only use official websites (the ones ending with
.gov.pk). - Don’t ever share OTPs or passwords, even if someone “from the police” calls.
- Keep screenshots of your form and confirmation.
- It’s free — no chai-pani money needed.
- The sooner you report, the better your chances.
So yeah, that’s it. Filing an FIR online isn’t as complicated as it sounds. Honestly, it’s a relief that we finally have an option where you don’t have to deal with endless trips to the thana.
Next time something happens — God forbid — you’ll know exactly what to do.
What do you think? Not that bad, right?
Filing an FIR online is one thing — but wouldn’t it be better to avoid getting scammed in the first place?
