What does a Pakistan Ranger actually earn in 2026? It is one of the most searched questions around Rangers recruitment, and for the first time there is an official answer. The Finance Division issued Office Memorandum No.F.1(2)IMP/2026, Islamabad, dated 21 July 2026, revising the Basic Pay Scales for civil servants of the Federal Government with effect from 01-07-2026. The revised BPS-2026 scales replace BPS-2022 by merging the Ad-hoc Relief Allowances of 2022 and 2025.
The memorandum applies to civil employees of the Federal Government paid out of civil estimates and defense estimates. Pakistan Rangers, Punjab and Sindh, are federal Civil Armed Forces under the Ministry of Interior, and the Interior Secretary is on the memorandum's distribution list. That is the official basis for the figures below.
Official BPS-2026 starting basic pay
The following are the official starting basic-pay minimums from the O.M. table, for the grades relevant to Rangers recruitment:
- BPS-01: starting basic pay Rs 16,280 per month, annual increment Rs 520, maximum Rs 31,880
- BPS-05: starting basic pay Rs 18,300 per month, annual increment Rs 910, maximum Rs 45,600
- BPS-11: starting basic pay Rs 22,410 per month, annual increment Rs 1,580, maximum Rs 69,810
- BPS-14: starting basic pay Rs 27,060 per month, annual increment Rs 2,090, maximum Rs 89,760
- BPS-16: starting basic pay Rs 33,720 per month, annual increment Rs 2,720, maximum Rs 115,320
Which Rangers post sits on which grade
Newspaper coverage of the September 2026 Punjab Rangers advertisement listed posts with these grades. The grade listing comes from press reports of the advertisement, not from independently verified official ad text:
- Religious Teacher, BPS-11: starting basic pay Rs 22,410 per month
- Sepoy General Duty, BPS-05: starting basic pay Rs 18,300 per month
- Lady Rangers Sepoy General Duty, BPS-05: starting basic pay Rs 18,300 per month
- Cook and Bawarchi, BPS-05: starting basic pay Rs 18,300 per month
- Khakrob and combined trades, BPS-01: starting basic pay Rs 16,280 per month
Read each figure as it is labeled: starting basic pay under the revised 2026 scales. It is not the total monthly salary.
What the official figures do not include
Actual monthly emoluments are higher and vary by posting because they include allowances: House Rent Allowance, conveyance, uniform-related allowances and any special allowances admissible to the post. The O.M. freezes special pays and allowances admissible as a percentage of pay, including House Rent Allowance, at the level admissible as on 30-06-2026. Because exact allowance combinations differ, the precise take-home for any post cannot be computed from public sources.
Job blogs quote higher totals, commonly between PKR 45,000 and PKR 65,000, for these posts. Treat those totals as unverified. They are plausible as all-in estimates but no official document confirms them.
Ad-hoc Relief Allowance 2026
The O.M. also grants Ad-hoc Relief Allowance-2026 at 7 percent of running basic pay of BPS-2026, effective 01-07-2026. It is subject to income tax and is not counted for pension or gratuity.
