ASF Ranks, Badges and Salary 2026: Airport Security Force Pakistan

The Airport Security Force, known as ASF, guards Pakistan's airports, aircraft and passengers. It was established in 1976 and works as a federal force for aviation security, with its headquarters in Karachi. For job seekers, ASF is one of the few uniformed federal forces that recruits at several levels, from Corporal up to officer grades through the Federal Public Service Commission.

ASF ranks from lowest to highest

The ASF rank structure runs from Corporal at the bottom to the Director General at the top. The Director General is a serving Major General of the Pakistan Army posted to ASF for a fixed tenure, not a rank reached by promotion from inside ASF. Below the Director General, the officer ranks are Director, Additional Director, Deputy Director and Assistant Director, followed by Inspector, Sub-Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Sergeant and Corporal.

ASF ranks, BPS grades and starting basic pay 2026

ASF personnel are paid on the federal Basic Pay Scales. The Finance Division revised those scales with effect from 1 July 2026 through Office Memorandum No.F.1(2)IMP/2026, dated 21 July 2026. The figures below are starting basic pay under BPS-2026. They are not total monthly salary, because allowances are added on top.

• Corporal, BPS-07: starting basic pay Rs 19,590 per month
• Sergeant, BPS-09: starting basic pay Rs 20,990 per month
• Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), BPS-11: starting basic pay Rs 22,410 per month
• Inspector, BPS-16: starting basic pay Rs 33,720 per month
• Assistant Director, BPS-17: starting basic pay Rs 54,140 per month
• Deputy Director, BPS-18: starting basic pay Rs 68,330 per month

Two grades need a caution. Recruitment guides disagree on the Sub-Inspector grade: some list it at BPS-14, which carries starting basic pay of Rs 27,060 per month, while others list it at BPS-11. Senior director grades also vary across guides. Always confirm the grade printed in the advertisement you are applying against, because the advertisement is the document that decides your pay.

What the basic pay figure does not include

Actual monthly pay is higher than starting basic pay. ASF guides list allowances including house rent, medical, conveyance, risk, night duty, uniform and ration allowances, and the 2026 revision also grants Ad-hoc Relief Allowance 2026 at 7 percent of running basic pay. Because the exact combination depends on posting and grade, no public source can give one exact take-home figure for every ASF post. Treat any single take-home total quoted by a job blog as an estimate, not an official figure.

How to join ASF

Corporal and ASI are direct recruitment posts, while Inspector and Assistant Director are recruited through the Federal Public Service Commission. The usual route is: read the advertisement, apply online, pass a written test, pass the physical test, clear the interview and medical examination, and wait for the final merit list. ASF badges and insignia

ASF insignia follow the same pattern as other Pakistani uniformed forces: rank is shown by stars, crowns and national emblem devices on the shoulder, with the ASF badge worn on the beret. The exact insignia set for each grade is shown in ASF recruitment material and on the uniform itself, and it is the shoulder device, not the beret badge alone, that identifies seniority.
