Balochistan Police is the provincial police force of Balochistan, Pakistan's largest province by area, with Quetta as its capital and headquarters city. It is headed by an Inspector General of Police, a BPS-22 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, from the Central Police Office in Quetta. The force works under the Balochistan Police Act 2011. This guide covers the Balochistan list only. It is the provincial companion to Narr's national police ranks page and to the Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police guides, because Balochistan has its own recruitment route, through district police offices in the province, that the national page does not cover in detail.
Balochistan Police ranks from lowest to highest
The Balochistan rank ladder runs from Constable at the bottom to the Inspector General at the top. In order: Constable, Head Constable, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Sub-Inspector (SI), Inspector, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP, also called Assistant Superintendent of Police at entry), Superintendent of Police (SP), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Additional Inspector General (Addl. IG) and Inspector General (IG). Note that Station House Officer, or SHO, is a posting, not a separate rank: an SHO is usually an Inspector, and in smaller stations a Sub-Inspector. District Police Officers head districts, and the force is organised into regions and districts across the province, with specialised units including the Counter Terrorism Department, headed in Balochistan by a Deputy Inspector General.
Balochistan Police ranks, BPS grades and starting basic pay 2026
Balochistan Police personnel are paid on the Basic Pay Scales. The Finance Division revised the federal scales with effect from 1 July 2026 through Office Memorandum No.F.1(2)IMP/2026, dated 21 July 2026, and the starting basic pay figures below follow that revision, as used across Narr's ranks cluster. They are starting basic pay, not total monthly salary, because allowances are added on top. Only grades with a verified figure are given a pay figure here. Head Constable and ASI are discussed in the grade conflict section below, with no pay figure claimed for them.
- Constable, BPS-07: starting basic pay Rs 19,590 per month
- Sub-Inspector (SI), BPS-14: starting basic pay Rs 27,060 per month
- Inspector, BPS-16: starting basic pay Rs 33,720 per month
- Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), BPS-17: starting basic pay Rs 54,140 per month
- Superintendent of Police (SP), BPS-18: starting basic pay Rs 68,330 per month
Senior grades, listed without a pay figure claimed here: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), BPS-19; Deputy Inspector General (DIG), BPS-20; Additional Inspector General (Addl. IG), BPS-21; Inspector General (IG), BPS-22. These are senior Police Service of Pakistan posts whose total pay depends on allowances and posting, so no single figure is stated for them.
Grade conflict, stated openly: Constable, Head Constable and ASI
Two mappings circulate for the junior grades, and this guide does not hide the difference. For Constable, the 2026 Balochistan Police recruitment advertisement, PRQ No. 1206/04-09-2026, lists Constable General at BPS-07, and Abb Takk News reported the same BPS-07 grade for the eight district recruitment that closed on 10 October 2026. An older Balochistan Police designation table lists Constable at BPS-05, Head Constable at BPS-07 and ASI at BPS-09. This guide uses BPS-07 for Constable because the 2026 advertisement is the current document, and treats the older table as superseded for that grade. For Head Constable and ASI, no Balochistan specific 2026 advertisement grade was verified for this guide. The pattern in the other three provinces in 2026 is Head Constable BPS-09 and ASI BPS-11, which would be the consistent step above a BPS-07 Constable, but that pattern is not presented here as a verified Balochistan advertisement figure, so no starting basic pay figure is claimed for Head Constable or ASI. If an advertisement you are applying against prints a different grade, the advertisement wins, because it is the document that decides your pay.
What the basic pay figure does not include
Actual monthly pay is higher than starting basic pay. Police guides list allowances including house rent, medical, risk, uniform and conveyance allowances, and the 2026 revision also grants Ad-hoc Relief Allowance 2026 at 7 percent of running basic pay. Because the exact combination depends on posting, district and grade, no public source can give one exact take-home figure for every Balochistan Police post. Treat any single take-home total quoted by a job blog as an estimate, not an official figure.
How to join Balochistan Police, and the last recruitment
No Balochistan Police recruitment is claimed open in this guide. The last recruitment covered here is the Constable General BPS-07 recruitment under advertisement PRQ No. 1206/04-09-2026, which closed on 10 October 2026. It covered male and lady constables in eight districts reported by Abb Takk News as Chagai, Kalat, Mastung, Qilla Abdullah, Ziarat, Kachhi, Usta Muhammad and Noshki. Eligibility in that advertisement, as reported, was Matric education, male age 18 to 28 years and female age 18 to 30 years, male height 5 feet 5 inches with chest 31 inches without expansion and 32.5 inches with expansion, female height 5 feet, a one kilometre run within seven minutes for female candidates, a written examination in English, Urdu and general knowledge, and a non-refundable fee of Rs 400. Forms were collected from district police offices or downloaded from the Balochistan Police website, balochistanpolice.gov.pk. That pattern is the closed advertisement only: check the Balochistan Police website for the current advertisement before applying, and do not apply on the basis of a closed advertisement.
