Gold prices in Pakistan moved higher again on Monday, with the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association fixing the 24-karat rate at Rs 442,036 per tola, an increase of Rs 1,100 over the previous session.
The association also set the 10-gram price of 24-karat gold at Rs 378,974. Lower purities followed the same direction: 22-karat gold opened at Rs 401,041 per tola, 21-karat at Rs 382,781 and 18-karat at Rs 331,527.
Silver moved up as well, opening at Rs 6,555 per tola.
International cue
In the international market, gold opened at $4,195 per ounce, up $1. Local prices in Pakistan are benchmarked to global bullion rates with a small premium, so the international uptick fed straight into the domestic market.
A volatile few weeks
The latest rise extends a choppy stretch for the yellow metal. Gold closed the previous week near Rs 440,936 per tola after a Rs 5,900 single-day jump, and rates have swung between roughly Rs 441,000 and Rs 454,500 since early September as global cues and currency moves pulled in different directions.
Why savers are watching
For Pakistani households, gold remains the default savings hedge. With the rupee under pressure and returns on bank deposits in flux, many savers compare the metal against fixed deposits and prize bonds. Jewellers say retail demand stays anchored to the wedding season, while investors keep one eye on the dollar and global bullion.
A note on the numbers
Rates move every day and some market trackers listed slightly different figures this morning. Narr follows the association's official rate as the reference. Prices at individual shops can vary, and making charges on jewellery are extra, so confirm the final price with your jeweller before buying.
